Så fungerar det

Vi vill berätta om något som redan har hänt. Då använder vi dåtid. Många verb får -ed: I played, I watched, I walked. Was och were är dåtid av am, is och are: It was fun. We were at home.

En dagbok berättar i den ordning det hände och säger hur det var. Skriv när det hände, vad du gjorde och vad du tyckte: In the afternoon I played football. It was really fun. Läs sedan texten igen och se om något går att säga tydligare.

Yesterday I walked to school. It was cold and windy. Det betyder: i går gick jag till skolan. Det var kallt och blåsigt.

Ella's diary

Saturday, 14 October Dear Diary, Today was a strange day. I woke up at seven o'clock because our dog, Biscuit, was barking at the window. It was raining, so I stayed in bed and read my book for an hour. After breakfast, Dad and I walked to the market in the rain. We bought apples, bread and a big piece of cheese. Dad talked to everyone. He knows all the people at the market! I was bored, so I counted the umbrellas. There were forty-two. On the way home we stopped at the bakery and Dad bought me a warm cinnamon bun. It was the best part of the morning. In the afternoon my cousin Sami visited us. We played board games and I won twice. Then we baked a chocolate cake, but we forgot the sugar. It looked lovely, but it tasted terrible! Mum laughed so much that she cried. In the evening the rain stopped, and we walked Biscuit in the park. The sky was orange and pink. Sami and I talked about the summer holiday and our plans for next year. He wants to go camping, but I want to go to the sea. I was tired, but I was happy. It wasn't a perfect day, but it was a good one. Ella

Ett verb är ett ord som talar om vad någon gör eller vad som händer: springer, läser, är. På engelska till exempel live och play.
