Which is better?
Egen text · Åk 4–9
Läs Leos text där han jämför stad och landsbygd. Jämför sedan två saker själv och säg vad du tycker, och förbättra texten.
Så fungerar det
Vi vill jämföra två saker. Korta ord får -er och than: bigger than, större än. Långa ord får more: more interesting than, mer intressant än. Det mest heter -est eller the most: the biggest, the most popular. Good blir better och best, bad blir worse och worst.
En bra jämförelse säger vad som är bra och dåligt med båda sakerna. Sedan säger du vad du tycker och varför: I prefer the city because … Det är din åsikt, så skriv I think.
The city is bigger than the village, but the village is quieter. Det betyder: staden är större än byn, men byn är lugnare.
City or countryside?
My name is Leo and I'm twelve. I live in two places. From Monday to Friday I live with my mum in a flat in Manchester, a big city in the north of England. At the weekend I stay with my dad on a farm in the countryside. The city is busier and noisier than the farm. There are buses, shops and people everywhere. My school is only five minutes from our flat, and the cinema is next to the station. In the city it's easier to meet friends, because they all live near me. The farm is quieter and much more beautiful. There are hills, a river and lots of animals. The air is cleaner, and at night you can see more stars than in the city. But there's no cinema, and the nearest shop is half an hour away by bike. Which place is better? That's the most difficult question for me. In winter I prefer the city, because it's warmer and there's more to do. In summer I think the farm is the best place in the world. I can swim in the river and help Dad with the lambs. Maybe I'm lucky. I've got the best of both!
